Call for submissions
The SSM Program Committee invites proposals for symposia, oral presentations and posters to be presented at the 13th Annual Meeting.
- Submission deadline for symposia and oral presentations: February 1st
- Submission deadline for posters: February 15th
Submission Types
Symposia: Submissions should include a chair (or co-chairs) and 3 speakers. (Please note that the 3-speaker limit differs from previous years to facilitate online interaction. Plan for 10-min presentations, plus discussion time). These Symposia should be organized around a common issue. Symposia submissions must include the name and affiliation of the chair(s), the symposium title, an abstract describing the symposium (150 words maximum), the names and affiliations of all speakers and their co-authors, and an abstract describing the content of each presentation (150 words maximum). Empirical studies must be completed by the time of submission. Preference will be given to sessions that include field data and/or emphasize implications for practical problems. Submissions may also suggest 3-5 potential discussants (to be invited by the program committee after the program has been determined).
Oral presentations: Submissions should include the name and affiliation of the presenter along with any co-authors, the title of the presentation, and an abstract describing the research that will be presented (150 words maximum). Empirical studies must be completed by the time of submission. Preference will be given to presentations that include field data and/or that emphasize implications for practical problems. (Plan for 10-min presentation, plus discussion time.)
Posters: Submissions must include the names and affiliations of the poster presenter and coauthors as well as an abstract describing the research that will be presented on the poster (150 words maximum). Empirical studies must be completed by the time of submission.
Young Scientist Poster Award: First authors of posters who are currently students or who have received their Ph.D. no more than two years prior to the SSM convention (i.e., after May 2019) are eligible to submit their poster for the Young Scientist Poster Award. The winning poster will be featured in the poster session, and the winner will receive a three-year SSM membership for the coming years (2021-2023).
Submission Guidelines
-
All presentations must have a member of the Society for the Science of Motivation as a presenter or co-author. Please indicate in your submission which author is or plans to be an SSM member (only one author is required). Presenters who wish to validate membership status or renew may do so here: https://www.123signup.com/enroll?Org=thessm
or here: http://www.scienceofmotivation.org/membership/ - E-mail your submission to: ssm.meeting@gmail.com
- All submissions should include completed work. Please do not submit a proposal if data are still pending.
- Persons are limited to one first authorship symposium, oral presentation, or poster. There is no limit on the number of times that a person can appear as an author other than first.
- Oral presentations and posters accepted last year (for SSM conference 2020, which was canceled due to COVID-19) may be resubmitted, with necessary updates to reflect the newest findings. (Please note, however, that symposia will be in a different format for the virtual session this year.)
- Submissions will be reviewed by the members of the SSM Program Committee. The committee will send notifications by email by March 15th, 2021. Complete details for the SSM conference, including registration, accommodation, and conference schedule will be available at the SSM website: www.scienceofmotivation.org/events
